Global Events
The Global Events Director leads the planning and execution of UzSU’s international events and initiatives. Through the Events Office, the Director coordinates cultural festivals, academic conferences, networking sessions, and community outreach programs that bring together Uzbekistan’s students and alumni worldwide.
This role ensures that every UzSU event reflects the Union’s mission of unity, growth, and cultural exchange. The Global Events Director collaborates closely with regional branches, partner institutions, and sponsors to deliver impactful experiences that celebrate Uzbek identity and foster global connections. By promoting innovation and inclusivity in event design, the Director enhances UzSU’s international presence and strengthens its reputation as a vibrant, student-driven organization.
Biography
Umarbek Islamov is a Politics and Development student at SOAS, University of London.
Umarbek’s extensive experience includes serving as a member of the Student Council at d’Overbroecks College Oxford. Before becoming the Global Events Director, Umarbek has served as General Secretary and President’s Advisor – Volunteer Coordinator at UzSU. During his office, he established a welcoming environment for volunteers, provided trainings and strengthened their ties to their homeland.
Apart from his leadership experience, Umarbek has gained valuable professional insights through internships at the Youth’s Affairs Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan and at the World Bank project.Â
